SEWERIN in 3D - New image film impresses with its innovative technology

It is a tradition at SEWERIN that the company will come up with a surprise for visitors at trade fairs. In 2003 it was a vehicle study involving a VW Touareg as a leak detection vehicle that caused a stir among the general public. Visitors were delighted by the first Segways in 2006. After offering a glimpse below ground in 2009, SEWERIN had another highlight in store for Berlin in 2011: a new image film featuring innovative 3D technology!

The idea was born during a conversation in September of last year between SEWERIN CEO Dr. Swen Sewerin and sales manager Andreas Schweitzer. It then became reality in Gütersloh with the help of a local company. The contract was awarded to an experienced partner equipped with state-of-the art technology based in the town: Olaf Westerbarkey and his team from Film & TV Westerbarkey, Gütersloh. Such proximity ensured that no time was wasted, so that the challenging project became reality in next to no time.

Individual sequences of the film were shot in Almeria/Spain, in Peking and at the premises of a major industrial firm as well as the site of a gas compression facility in Germany.

One of the key scenes, which also attracted the attention of WDR and RTL, was set in a sandpit in the nearby town of Augustdorf. The breakage of a water pipe was simulated with plentiful assistance from the local voluntary fire brigade, with a fountain of water shooting some 20 metres up into the air. In the cutting room this scene was then merged into footage filmed in the desert-like setting of Almeria.

In less than five minutes the new 3D image film puts across a striking message: cutting-edge leak detection technology from SEWERIN is helping to curb the wastage of scarce water supplies and guarantee the supply of gas.
