What to do with the empty test gas cans and test gas cylinders after use?
Disposing of these SEWERIN test gas cans used for calibration is very simple. Like aerosol cans or paint sprays, they belong to the group of pressurised gas packagings in accordance with UN 1950. These packagings are characterised by a maximum volume of one litre and a maximum pressure of 12 bar. As "limited quantities", they can also be sent by post without any problems. SEWERIN test gas cans are designed as a disposable solution and, together with the SEWERIN test equipment (SPE), offer easy handling. The material is made of high-quality aluminium, which makes recycling practical.
With the "Green Dot" attached, the test gas cans can simply be placed in the yellow bag or yellow bin for recycling once the contents have been used up.
Our fuel gas and test gas cylinders, on the other hand, are refillable! This means that you can simply send your empty cylinders back to us and we will take care of the rest. You won't get exactly the same cylinder back, but there's a good reason for that.
We keep the most common bottle models in stock in empty condition to keep delivery times as short as possible. As soon as we receive your empty bottle, we will send you a replacement bottle, freshly filled and with a valid TÜV certificate. In the meantime, your old cylinder will be sent to the gas manufacturer, where it will be thoroughly cleaned. In this way, we ensure that the gas purity is guaranteed when refilling.
Why go to all this trouble? Cleaning and testing are essential to ensure the high quality and safety of the gases.
When shipping pressurised gas cylinders, it should be noted that they are considered hazardous goods. Therefore, they must be shipped by a carrier that is authorised to transport dangerous goods. This ensures that your cylinders arrive safely and properly to us and then back to you.
Further information on shipping and filling our pressurised gas cylinders can be found in our technical information.
