Acoustic water leak detection
The A200 can be used indoors and outdoors to locate water leaks in houses using the UM200 microphone. This is a proven solution in the UK for Plumbers and Water Damage Restoration companies.
For water distribution companies, their subcontractors or those carrying out a lot of outdoor work, there are a range of wireless digital microphones that can be used to listen on:
- Rough ground - BM230
- Smooth ground, with wind protection - BM200
- Valve listening microphones to pre-locate leaks on water distribution networks - TM200
Locating Water Leaks using advanced electroacoustic ground mics
When a pressurised water pipe leaks the water flows out which causes the pipe and surrounding material (mud, concrete tarmac) to vibrate. This sound, or vibration, is transmitted along the pipe (structure borne water leak noise) and through the surrounding material (ground borne water leak noise).
With the Aquaphon A200 ground mic set listening for these water leak noises is now easier than ever before
The Aquaphon A200 ground microphone offers a 5.7” colour touch screen - displaying:
- All readings & information in a clear user friendly layout
- Current actual noise level
- Current Minimum Noise Level (MNL - helps to pin point the water leak)
- Previous Minimum Noise levels - compare sounds levels in different locations
- Microphone type being used
- Frequency filters being used
- Frequency strength - which ones are loudest.
Locating Water Leaks using advanced electroacoustic ground mics
The AQUAPHON® A 200 combines maximum sound quality with simple operation.
MNL - Minimum Noise Level

A leak noise volume is constant; it does not get significantly quieter or louder, unlike the constantly fluctuating noise from traffic, washing machines, or people talking. The Aquaphon A200 displays the constantly changing noise level as a dynamic graph, but more importantly, it locks onto and numerically displays the “quietest” moment during the time you have been listening; the large number in the centre of the display. The higher the value displayed the closer to the leak you are.
Frequency Filters

Frequency Filtering with graph A graph showing the strength (volume) of the frequencies of the sound being heard is displayed. This allows the user to see which frequencies are the strongest . Higher frequencies tend to occur closer to the leak. By simply tapping on the screen frequencies can be isolated and silenced allowing the user to focus on listening only to the frequencies that matter - the water leak noise An automatic frequency filter can also be set. The A200 will analyse and suggest optimum filters
A200 sets configured for you

Sets are tailored to suit your application, Plumber, Water Networks - select the microphones you need and add others later if required All components are powered by Li-ion batteries providing power for all day use. All components can be charged with one charger (12V car charger or mains) whilst remaining in the case
