Interview with Tomás Dolezel

Gasnet's experience with the LaserGasPatroller

How long has the gas detection vehicle been in use at your company?

We started using the gas detection vehicle in 2021 LGP 800 to work. We used to use the older LeakPlotter system from SEWERIN, which helped us to significantly reduce the number of leaks in the network.

In recent years, however, we have started to carry out inspections by foot patrol exclusively with the SEWERIN EX-TEC® HS 680 and EX-TEC® PM 4 gas leak detectors. In recent years, we have also used the EX-TEC® PM 580 and, since 2021, we have returned to the vehicle-based inspection returned.

What are the advantages of the LaserGasPatroller 800?

With the gas detection vehicle, we can inspect a larger part of the distribution network in less time. We are currently using the vehicles to inspect pipelines, especially in villages and small towns. These villages and small towns carried out pipeline construction work after 1990 and mainly used plastic pipes with low leakage rates. The remaining sections of the larger urban core network and the old steel pipelines continue to be inspected with EX-TEC® HS 680 detectors for surface inspection. Some inspectors also find it more convenient to use a vehicle instead of walking.

Why did you choose the Sewerin gas detection vehicle?

We have a long-standing relationship with the SEWERIN brand. All the hand-held detectors we currently use are from SEWERIN, both the EX-TEC® HS 680 for area detection and the EX-TEC® PM 580 or the older EX-TEC® PM 4 model. We are now also using SEWERIN detectors from the VARIOTEC® series for hydrogen localization. A major advantage is the service background with Line Control s.r.o. in the Czech Republic, which is able to provide fast and comprehensive service on both hardware and very good software support.
