How many times have you found that utilities marked on network plans are not always where they should be when you get out into the field?
Very often in order to find the leak in a pipe the first thing you need to be able to do is to find the pipe itself, so we designed a version of the AQUAPHON® which is also a pipe locator and tracer.
This instrument is called the AF100. |
By plugging in the receiver A3-S the AF100 becomes a highly sophisticated pipe & cable locator and tracer. It offers all of the functions you will find on the standalone locator and tracer the ELH. |
The Aquaphon AF100 is far more than simply a cable avoidance tool.
The AQUAPHON® AF100 shows you: |
It is very useful to know if you are tracing the correct service and knowing the depth of what you are tracing can give you more information. A water pipe is unlikely to be buried, (but it has been known!), at 300mm but a telecommunication cable might well be!
- Minimum & Maximum detection methods
The Minimum method is particularly useful for tracing pipes, very accurately, instead of increasing at the centre of the pipe the signal decreases giving a far cleaner “centre”. |
- Six reception frequencies including:
Radio - This range picks up re-radiated VLF radio signals that are in the air
- 50/60Hz - mains electricity frequency
Line location arrows - These point in the direction that the signal is strongest allowing you to see if the pipe to the left or right? |
Re-scaleable signal level allowing you to infinitely vary the displayed signal to enable you to narrow down the area of search and hone in on the service. |
The technique that the AF100 is utilising to locate metallic services is to detect the electromagnetic field that surrounds the service or the re-radiated radio signal.
To be detectable by the A3-S the line undertest must either be carrying current, to produce an electromagnetic field, or be re-radiating radio signals to
utilise the Radio setting. For a power line to produce an electromagnetic field it must be pulling power, so if there is no load you may not detect the service. It is far safer, and more advisable, to produce a known signal and trace the consequent electromagnetic field. For this purpose we provide
2 signal generators. |
The signal generator (genny) G1
Provides 3 output frequencies with a powerful 50W transmitter (it has controllable output for times when you do not need this large power output).
The G1 is powered by an internal rechargeable battery and can run or be recharged from any 12V power by the cigar lighter accessory lead. Calculate how much you currently spend on batteries for your less powerful signal generator and consider the advantages this offers. |

The signal generator G2 is a 2W signal generator with three output frequencies |

A full range of accessories is available including fibreglass probes and mini pig transmitters for end line location. |
Features & TECHNICAL DATA
Wide choice of microphones to suit many different types of work
Automatic microphone recognition - Best frequency settings automatically selected
- Digital signal processor - for digital sound clarity
Dynamic hearing-protection function - operator’s hearing no longer in danger
Filter-optimisation function - makes even difficult to distinguish sounds easier to hear. Simple to use even for the most inexperienced user
Minimum Noise Level - displays the lowest level of noise whilst you have been listening- Leaks do not get quieter but background noise can. More useful than knowing what the loudest noise was
Memory function - no need to remember the last reading. Know if the leak is closer or further away
- Large illuminated display - Ideal for night work
Built-in quick re-chargeable NiMH batteries - integral charging/buffering automatic, battery level display. Four hour charge
Charging via charging station HS with 12 V supply. Can also be charged in vehicle - never get caught out with flat batteries
- Operating time: approx. 12 hours
- Operating / storage temperature: -10 °C ... +50 °C / -25 °C ... +70 °C
